IS A FOREIGN DRIVER'S LICENSE VALID IN TURKEY?
Turkish citizens or foreign nationals have the right to use the driving licenses they obtained abroad in Turkey in accordance with the agreements made between countries. However, foreign driver's licenses have a valid period in Turkey. At the end of this period, people who want to continue driving in Turkey are required to convert their foreign driver's license to a Turkish driver's license.
Mehran Consultancy, affiliated with Mehran Group, offers services accompanied by quality and experienced experts in order to facilitate all these processes for you.
Driving licenses obtained from abroad are valid for up to 6 months in Turkey. You can drive a vehicle in Turkey with a foreign driver's license for a maximum of 6 months from the moment you enter Turkey. People who want to use their driver's license abroad after 6 months can use their driver's license abroad for another 6 months by having the sworn translation of the driver's license approved by foreign representatives or a notary. It is mandatory for people who have completed 1 year or who will live in Turkey permanently to convert their foreign driver's license to a Turkish driver's license within 1 year. If it is not translated, vehicle use is prohibited.
CONVERTING A FOREIGN DRIVER'S LICENSE TO A TURKISH DRIVER'S LICENSE
All driver's license procedures were taken from the General Directorate of Security, with the decision taken before, and transferred to the General Directorate of Population and Citizenship Affairs. You must attend the appointment by collecting the following documents.
* Turkish translation of your driver's license obtained from the notary or consulate,
*translation of your diploma showing your education information
* Your ID
* Driver's medical report
* Document stating your blood type
* Biometric photo
* Criminal record certificate
* Driver's license, valuable paper, receipt showing that you have paid the tuition fee and the foundation share fee.
In addition, when converting your foreign driver's license to a Turkish driver's license, the class of your driver's license will be determined according to the scope of the driver's license you have obtained in the other country. In other words, if you have a car license in another country, you will be given a Class B driver's license, which is the equivalent in our country.
Which Countries' Driving Licenses Can Be Converted to Turkish Driving License?
In our country, driver's license exchange is only possible if one is a member of one of the 84 (Eighty-Four) countries that are parties to the Road Traffic Convention and have an agreement on the mutual exchange of driver's licenses. It is not possible to convert driver's licenses obtained from countries outside this agreement into our country's driver's license. Those who have a driver's license from countries not listed in the table must attend driving courses and obtain a new driver's license in order to drive in our country. The countries that have mutual agreements with our country and whose driver's licenses can be converted are shown in the table below.
