1. What documents do I need?
• 2 application forms 
• Alternatively, those over the age of 18 must sign the application form in person; The custody holder signs the children's form.
• Visa fee: General visa fee is €75.00; The visa fee for children between the ages of 0-17 is 40.00 €.
• Valid passport and 2 photocopies of the page containing personal information in the passport (page with photo).
• 2 passport size photos: Passport photos must be biometric, not older than 6 months and 35 x 45 millimeters in size.  
Please also bring the original and two photocopies of the following documents with you. German translations of Turkish documents are also required.
• International Marriage Registration Form („Formula B”), containing the complete identity information of both spouses. (Note: Apostille is not required for this certificate.)
• The original and translation of the Fully Accurate Population Registration Sample of the applicant who will join his/her spouse. The “Considerations” section of the document must be filled out completely and must include all events related to marital status (e.g. previous marriages, divorces, children, parents, developments regarding citizenship status). If you are submitting a barcoded computer printout, the original document is not required.
• Depending on the situation: A complete divorce decision regarding the spouses' previous marriages, with finalization and apostille, and its German translation. Recognition and enforcement decision taken in Germany, depending on the situation. Death Registration Sample (“Formula C”), as applicable. (Note: Apostille is not required for this certificate.)
• If your spouse living in Germany is a Turkish citizen: The original and translation of the Full Certificate Population Registration Sample of the spouse living in Germany. The “Considerations” section of the document must be filled out completely and must include all events related to marital status (e.g. previous marriages, divorces, children, parents, developments regarding citizenship status). If you are submitting a barcoded computer printout, the original document is not required.
• Current Residence Registration Certificate in Germany for the spouse living in Germany (must not be older than 6 months)

a) If the spouse living in Germany is a German citizen:
1. Photocopy of passport or ID
2. If the spouse living in Germany has never had Turkish citizenship before: German birth certificate
3. If available: Photocopy of the Blue Card

b) If the spouse living in Germany is a foreign national:
1. Photocopy of your passport
2. Photocopy of residence permit (Residence)
• If the spouse living in Germany is recognized as a refugee:
a. Confirmation letter from the Federal Office for Migration and Refugees confirming that the person concerned is recognized as a refugee.
b. Notification (fristwahrende Anzeige) for the application for Family Reunification, which must be made within the given period in accordance with Article 29, Sentence 2 of the Residence Act.
• Certificate proving that the applicant has basic knowledge of German. Knowledge of German at least level A1 of the "Common European Framework of Reference for Languages" is required. A1 language certificate must be issued by an authorized institution. In Turkey, the Goethe-Institut's "Start Deutsch 1" certificate (www.goethe.de) and the Austrian Language Diploma (ÖSD) "Grundstufe Deutsch 1" (www.osd.at) are accepted. The original language certificate must be presented. The certificate issuance date must not be older than 12 months at the time of application.

In the exceptional cases stated below, there is no obligation to submit the A1-Certificate. However, the exceptional situation in question must be documented (e.g. medical report).

1. If it is obvious that the spouse can speak German, that is, if he/she speaks German well enough to be noticed by the officers in the Visa Department during the application,

2. If the spouse applying for family reunification is a college graduate and has a positive forecast in terms of employment and adaptation, or is applying for family reunification for a temporary period, or has previously received a residence permit in accordance with the Residence Law,

3. If the spouse living in Germany has one of the following residence statuses: Researcher, EU Blue Card, ICT-Card, Article 21 of the Residence Act (Independent Workers), Paragraph 3 of Article 18c of the Residence Act (Skilled Workforce), or is also entitled to protection according to the 1st paragraph of Article 25, paragraph 2, of the Residence Code and the marriage took place before the spouse living in Germany left his/her country.

4. If the spouse living in Germany has the right to free movement in Germany, i.e. is a citizen of an EU country other than Germany, or is a citizen of the European Economic Area (EWR) states Norway, Iceland and Liechtenstein or Switzerland.

5. If the applicant going to Germany is not able to prove basic knowledge of the German language due to a physical, mental or spiritual health problem or disability,

6. If it is not possible for the applicant to learn German at a basic level before going to Germany, or if the conditions prevent him from attempting to learn it.

2. If you will be traveling with your family, please also bring the following documents with you:
For your children:

We will forward your application to the Aliens Office of the place where you plan to reside in Germany. Involving the Aliens Office in the process is required by law. We need to wait for the Aliens Office to give its opinion before making a decision on your application.
