In this regard, the first way to acquire Turkish citizenship is to acquire citizenship automatically, based on the child's lineage, as a result of the notification to be made. According to this:
A child born to a Turkish citizen mother or father living in marriage within or outside the Republic of Turkey acquires Turkish citizenship from birth.
A child born to a Turkish citizen mother and a foreign citizen father living outside the marriage union within or outside the Republic of Turkey also acquires Turkish citizenship from birth.
For a child born to a Turkish citizen father and a foreign citizen mother outside of marriage, within or outside Turkey, firstly, lineage determination must be made in accordance with the provisions of private international law. If the born child is connected to the Turkish citizen father by lineage, he will acquire Turkish citizenship from birth.

The laws have made an exception for people who have reached adulthood (over 18 years of age) and live abroad to acquire Turkish citizenship through lineage. According to this exception, applications made by people living abroad and notifying them of their birth after reaching adulthood (turning 18 years of age) will be examined by the Ministry of Internal Affairs and a decision will be made according to this examination.

Children born in Turkey, although they are not considered Turkish citizens due to their mother's or father's lineage, are also given the right to acquire Turkish citizenship if certain conditions are met. Accordingly, a child born in Turkey who cannot acquire citizenship of any country due to reasons such as unknown parents or statelessness, will be able to acquire Turkish citizenship from birth if it is determined that he/she meets the necessary conditions as a result of the examinations to be carried out by the Ministry.
