Türkiye Independent Work Permit
People who want to come to Turkey and work and live here are required to obtain a Turkish independent work permit in accordance with the law. Work permits can be obtained through different categories and contents. Applications are made online and a record is created through the system with an electronic signature. Previous work permits, passport, photograph and documents showing competencies depending on the category applied are added to the applicant, if any. Work permit can be obtained in different situations, and independent work permit is one of them. If people do not want to get a work permit through a company or someone else and they meet the conditions, then they can apply for an independent work permit.
The first condition for applying for an independent work permit is that the foreigner must have lived in Turkey uninterruptedly for at least 5 years with a residence permit. The completion of this period will be examined within the records of the police units. When examining this 5-year continuous residence requirement, residence periods spent as a student are not taken into account. However, if the person's dependent spouse and children who come to Turkey are studying, their residence permits during that period are also included in the day calculation.
After the person who will apply for an independent work permit meets the residence requirement for 5 years continuously, the criterion is that the work to be done with this independent work permit will contribute positively to the country's economy and provide new opportunities in terms of employment. If the independent work permit is approved, the person will be given an independent work permit application document. This document will be valid for 3 months. The independent work permit is fully granted to the person after his/her application is approved and the foreigner who receives the certificate completes the workplace establishment procedures and submits this document to the Ministry of Labor and Social Security.
